The Amazon Warrior   The Republic of Benin has unveiled their new tourism identity: an Amazon warrior. Like Paris is known for its Eiffel tower or China for the Great Wall of China, Benin want to be known of its Amazon Warrior statue. It is a 30 meters statue that has a metal structure with a bronze envelope and been built by Chinese sculptor Li Xiangqun from the Beijing Huashi Xiangqun Culture and Art Co., Ltd.    The statue is a tribute to the Amazons of Dahomey. The Amazons were the all-female soldiers of the Kingdom of Dahomey, now known as the Republic of Benin. The Amazons though against the French forces during colonization. The impressive Amazon statue, which is still being unveiled is located at the Esplanade of the Amazons on the Marina Boulevard. It will definitely be the new “must see” in Cotonou and will be included in all our Cotonou itineraries.
