ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival Dakar

Arrive at Blaise DIAGNE de Diass airport, meet and greet and transfer to the hotel for the night.

Day 2: Dakar – Gorée

Start the day with a city tour before catching the ferry to Gorée. The panoramic sight while approaching the volcanic island is exceptional. The island is an island full of history because it was at the centre of the slave trade, located 4km off the coast of Dakar. The island is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Transfer back to Dakar for the night.

Day 3: Dakar - Workshop

Visit a pottery today, Potérie de Ouakam, and join a pottery class where you will learn everything about the craft. In the afternoon, learn how to create handmade rag dolls by visiting a handmade dolls workshop.

Day 4: Dakar – Lac Rose – Thiès

Drive to the Lac Rose (Pink Lake), start the day with a tour around the Lake. Make a stop to meet the people gathering salt. Get on board of the “salt board” for a short discovery salt gathering tour. After lunch, continue to Thiès and visit the art village of Thiès.

Day 5: Thiès – Lalane – Mekhe – Desert de Lompoul

This morning, visit the manufacture of decorative arts of Thiès before driving to Lalane for a visit the basketry workers. Continue your discovery trip to Mekhe, where you will meet the women of the women cooperative called GIE LAYOU BI. These women produce some of the most beautiful handwoven baskets and wall décor products in Senegal. Visit an artisanal shoemaking centre. Continue to Lompoul. Arrival and installation at the desert camp.

Day 6: Lompoul Desert – Lompoul Mer – Bandia

Start the day with the discovery of the fishing port of Lompoul where traditional fishing is the main activity. Meet the fishers from the coastal villages in motorised canoes getting on their work.

Go on a 1.5-hour mini safari in the Bandia wildlife reserve. Discover many species of Senegal

Day 7: Bandia – Airport

In the morning, enjoy on a boat trip on the Somone Lagoon. Perfect occasion for relaxation or for bird watching. Transfer in the afternoon to the airport for your flight home.
