Welcome to Benin

Benin is a French-speaking West African nation and the birthplace of the voodoo religion. It is one of the smallest country in Africa but has so much to offer as a tourist destination. Benin will win you over because it is a tourist friendly country with a wide range of tourist infrastructures but more importantly and story to tell through the cultural experiences and its past. Our tours in Benin will take to the south of the country, where Voodoo is the main religion with is pythons temples; walk in the paths of the slave trade road to the Road of No Return in Ouidah; discover the vestiges of the Dahomey kingdom in Abomey and go on a safari in Pendjari National Park where you will see elephants, hippos and lions.

Culture, Money & Visa

The official language in Benin is French but the other important local languages are Fon, Yoruba, Dendi, Aja, Bariba and more than 50 local languages.40% of the population is Christian and 25% Muslim, but most people practise voodoo, whatever their religion. The Voodoo practice is so important that the country has a voodoo day: the celebration is held annually on January 10 throughout the country but most notably in the city of Ouidah. The local currency is Communauté Financière Africaine Francs (XOF) or the West African CFA (Franc CFA). It is recommended to travel with Euro for exchange purposes. Visa is required for UK and EU passports holders however; we take away the hassle of the visa process from our clients by applying on their behalf.
